Why I support Ian

I would like to share with you some of the many reasons why I support Ian Gartshore for MLA.
Ian is informed. He’s involved. He’s insightful and practical. He listens. He looks for solutions. He’s reliable.
But, most of all, Ian cares.  When I talk to him, listen to him, see the way he treats people, I absolutely trust that he will do his best for us. For Nanaimo. For British Columbia. 
Ian will work with us, individually and collectively, for a thriving economy, a healthy environment, and a caring, connected community.
How do I know for sure Ian will do this?
He already does.

The Value of Supporting the Nanaimo Recycling Exchange

Nanaimo’s heart and soul of recycling may be facing its demise. While the NRE has inspired citizens, businesses, the city and the regional district to adopt strong   waste-recovery practises, leading by example and helping to extend the life of the local landfill -costing us virtually nothing-, the NRE may be discarded early next year. Why? Because the majority of the Nanaimo city councillors have been convinced that the NRE is the responsibility of the Regional District of Nanaimo (the RDN) while the Directors of the RDN are being steered by their staff to believe that the NRE is, in essence, not required. The NRE primarily benefits residents and businesses in Nanaimo, yet technically its mandate falls under the RDN solid waste management. A Third Approach to the COVID-19 Pandemic; Diversifying our Options

The issue A tremendous amount of fear and anger are presently being felt and expressed in our society over the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of us are tired of the restrictions, especially the lack of easy physical proximity and/or contact, and all of us want this to be over. Those who will not (or cannot) be vaccinated are concerned about their health. Those who have been vaccinated but fear being infected by the un-vaccinated also fear for their health, and believe that if everyone did accept the vaccine the pandemic would finally end. Health authorities and the province are putting a lot of pressure on the un-vaccinated to get the jab. The un-compliant are experiencing a great deal of shaming and shunning. Some of these have become angry (shame often does that) and/or depressed ; some have become militant, organising marches on hospitals and other public sites. This only enrages the public. The battle lines deepen. Nobody is winning this battle. Let’s step back for a moment here....
